Sunday 12th February 2006.

1st Match

1st Half

Fry’s kicked off and lost the ball to Fishponds straight away who passed the ball around well to put Fry’s under pressure.

Kyle won the ball in the middle of the park and put a good pass out to Perry who managed to get a shot at goal, forcing the Fishponds keeper to make a save.

Fishponds came back at Fry’s with some good passing and strong running that was dealt with confidently by Joel Rowbottom in defence.

The visitors kept the ball in the Fry’s half and continued to put the defence under pressure, this time dealt with by Jonathan Shorland.

Fry’s replied to this with a good run on the left wing from Jack Dancey and some nifty footwork getting the ball forward to striker Kyle Morris whose shot was saved by the Fishponds keeper.

Excellent skill by Perry and passing by Jonathan, great shape by Fry’s, good calling from Joel, great communication from Mickey.

A solid ball forward by Mickey with a crafty flick by Kyle to deceive the keeper to make it 1-0.

Fry’s began to apply the pressure with some excellent football that saw Kyle get his 2nd goal with a brilliant finish, looking up and taking his time.

Fry’s kept the pressure on to see out the half with a two-goal lead.

2nd Half

Good start from Fry’s, excellent run from Jack down the left wing taking on at least three players to drill the ball home for an excellent solo goal and number 3 for Fry’s.

Fishponds came straight back at Fry’s with the ball being played into the penalty area only to be brought down by the arm of Mickey Parsons to give the visitors a penalty. The Fishponds striker stepped up to take the penalty and his shot was driven in low and hard only for keeper Aaron Loughlin to get down to make a brilliant save.

Another good run on the left from Jack who crossed in for Lee Heath to shoot but he didn’t manage to trouble the Fishponds keeper.

Fishponds continued to apply the pressure and their surge forward was halted by a gutsy tackle from Joel.

A strong run down the right wing by Perry who was brought down by a tackle from behind to win a free kick.

The kick was taken by Jonathan and crossed into the area to go out for a corner.

Fishponds replied and the moment the ball was at the other end they won a corner that was taken quickly but defended well and cleared by Kyle.

Excellent football from Fry’s created a chance for Mickey who just missed.

Good strength by Jack and calling from Joel. The Dynamics of Perry, Kyle, Mickey and Jack is really coming together.

Good game with some unfortunate misses by Fry’s.

2nd Match

1st Half

As the rain came down Fry’s kicked off into the howling wind. Quickly the visitor’s pressure forced a corner that was defended by Ben Harper.

Both sides struggled to get to grips with the conditions, however, Ben Harper started to impose himself, getting the ball under control and looking to pass to Ben Clapp.

Fry’s defence continued to dominate with Ben Watt marshalling the task and Jordan Finch clearing any danger.

Fishponds attacked and using the wind, Jake was safe when handling a long shot.

Then against the run of play Fishponds crossed the ball into the box, which bounced up, unfortunately off of the knee of a Fishponds player into the net for 0-1

From the re-start Fishponds began using the wind shooting from long range, which forced the home keeper Jake Whooley to make some good saves.

Fishponds continued with a shot that hit the post putting Fry’s under pressure. Fry’s responded with strong defensive roles from

Ben Watt, Mathew Holloway and Daniel Kendal.

After a hard fought first half it finished with Fry’s 1-0 down.

2nd Half

Fry’s kick off with substitute Nathan Munford taking up a position on the right wing.

An early chance fell to Mitchell Thornton who hit a strong shot, which cannoned off the post and was cleared for a Fry’s corner.

Resulting corner taken by Ben Harper was deflected off a Fishponds player and into the net for 1- 1

Good play by Jordan Finch in midfield, passing the ball to Mitchell who knocked a good ball into the box that was cleared for a corner.

Another Ben Harper corner into the box with Mathew Holloway hitting a low shot into the net for 2-1

More Fry’s pressure resulted in Mitchell hitting the post and Ben Harper forcing a good save from the Fishponds keeper.

Fishponds attempted to attack the Fry’s defence only for Ben Watt to steal the ball from the Fishponds strikers and make an accurate pass to Mitchell. Mitchell nipped past two Fishponds defenders to coolly finish for 3-1.

The conditions really played its part in this half with Fry’s camped in the Fishponds half, with Mitchell, Mathew, and Nathan coming close with long shots.

Definitely a game of two halves with Fry’s finishing 3-1 winners.
